Little Cat Lodge

When Studio Love Is Enough began designing the interiors for Little Cat Lodge, a boutique hotel at the base of Catamount Ski Resort, they reached out to New York Heartwoods to transform trees from the property into custom furniture.

During a site visit, Megan assessed the available trees and found them to be healthy and small in diameter - unsuitable for harvesting. Her search for viable material led her across the street to Catamount Ski Resort, where she learned that four acres of trees were scheduled to be cleared the following week to make way for new ski runs.

NYH selected the most distinctive oak and maple logs from the site and had them transported to a nearby partner mill. After milling to specification and kiln drying, the oak was used to fabricate bed frames, dining tables, stools, and custom furniture for a lofted suite - diverting over 2,000 board feet of wood from becoming firewood.

This project not only supported the Lodge’s commitment to sustainable design, but also helped spark a new, positive relationship between the hotel and the ski resort - a dynamic that had been strained under prior ownership.
